Homicide Investigation at E 40th Avenue and Fairbanks Street
Update on 6/24/24:
The deceased victim has been identified as 30-year-old Farrel Siulua. Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
Update on 6/23/24:
Detectives learned the identities of two people responsible for the shooting. On June 22nd, 21-year-old Dominick L. Santana and 20-year-old Keilen J. Reynolds were each located and transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning. Afterwards they were both remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on the charges of Murder in the Second Degree, Manslaughter, Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and Assault in the Third Degree.
Initial indications are the two suspects were in an altercation with others in the area of E 40th and Fairbanks Street which culminated into the suspects discharging their weapons resulting in two adult males being struck, one fatally. The nature of the altercation, who was all involved, and whether they were known to one another are all still under investigation.
The deceased victim’s name will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

At 1:06 AM on June 22, 2024, APD officers informed Dispatch they heard shots near E 40th Avenue and Fairbanks street. Several units responded to the area; two adult victims were located. One was transported to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. AFD medics also responded; they administered life-saving measures to the second victim who had a gunshot wound to the upper body. The second victim was ultimately declared deceased at the scene.
The Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the area; a drone may be used in the investigation. There are no major road closures.
No arrests have been made and there is no suspect information available for release.
