HIDTA and Task Force Officers
The Anchorage Police Department is part of the Alaska HIDTA task force (High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area), whose mission is "to enhance and coordinate America's drug-control efforts among local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in order to eliminate or reduce drug trafficking and its harmful consequences in critical regions of the United States."
Anchorage Safe Streets Task Force Officer – APD Officers assigned to the task force assist federal, state, and local agencies in identifying criminal enterprise groups and violent street gangs responsible for drug trafficking, money laundering and crimes of violence in Anchorage and surrounding areas.
ATF Task Force Officer – APD Detective Assigned to this task force liaisons with ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) to assist in the investigations of Federal, State and Local laws involving violent and/or firearms-related criminal offenses.
Joint Terrorism Task Force Officer – Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) are locally-based multi-agency partnerships between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies tasked with investigating terrorism and terrorism-related crimes, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Department of Justice.
FBI Human Trafficking Task Force Officer – The APD Detective assigned to this task force assists in providing rapid, proactive investigative response to the sexual victimization (and other crimes) of and against children, human trafficking, and child exploitation.
Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force Officer- This is a multi-agency task force that works with the DEA. The principal mission of the DEA Task Force is to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking and money laundering organizations.
US Marshals Violent Offender Task Force Officer – The APD Officer assigned to this task force assists the US Marshal Service with the investigation and arrest of persons who have active state and federal warrants (primarily violent crimes) with the goal of improving public safety and reducing violent crime.
HIDTA Unit – Actively conducts drug investigations in order to disrupt the flow of drugs onto the streets of Anchorage and surrounding areas.
