Fatality Investigation on the 2800-block of Commercial Drive

The victim has been identified as 74-year-old Doris Green.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

At 11:57 AM on June 24, 2024, Anchorage Police Day Shift Patrol Officers responded to the 2800-block of Commercial Drive regarding a two-vehicle collision.  Initial indications are that a commercial water truck was traveling westbound on Commercial Drive when it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound sedan.  The adult female driver of the sedan was declared deceased at the scene by AFD Medics.  The driver of truck remained at the site and has been cooperative with the investigation.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) has responded to process the area.  Commercial Drive between Rampart Drive and Rampart Drive (both ends of Rampart each connect with Commercial Drive) will be closed while this occurs.  Please use another route.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, but have not yet spoken with police, is asked to contact APD Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (press “0”).

The dynamics of the collision, to include what caused the truck driver to cross the center line, are still under investigation.  No charges have been filed nor have any citations been issued.  The victim’s name will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
