HOMICIDE: 5081 MOUNTAIN VIEW DRIVE

NARRATIVE: On February 24, 2025, at approximately 7:02 PM, APD officers responded to the area of Davis Park, located at 5081 Mountain View Drive, for reports of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female with at least one gunshot wound to her upper body. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Kikite Fatu. Fatu was transported by the Anchorage Fire Department medics to a local hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries and died. Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

Through the subsequent investigation, probable cause necessary to support criminal charges in the homicide investigation was developed. Detectives issued a warrant for 26-year-old John Patea. On March 6, 2025, Anchorage Police contacted Patea at 1725 Abbott Road and transported him to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. Patea was subsequently remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on his warrants for one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Manslaughter, and one count of Assault 3.

NARRATIVE: John Patea is now in custody for his outstanding warrants. After initially refusing to comply with officer commands, he was apprehended following the deployment of non-lethal tactics.
