Traffic Investigation: Minnesota at Northern Lights
At 11:06 PM on May 15, 2023, officers assigned to Swing shift Patrol, officers from the traffic unit, and medics with the Anchorage Fire Department responded to the intersection of Northern Lights and Minnesota in reference to a vehicle collision with injuries.
The southbound lanes of Minnesota will be closed at Northern Lights while investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) process the scene. Westbound Northern Lights is also closed at Minnesota as well. Please use alternative routes.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Pontiac G6 was traveling southbound on Minnesota when it collided with a Chevy Silverado, which was traveling northbound on Minnesota, and was turning left heading westbound onto Northern Lights. A third vehicle, a Chevy Trailblazer, was also struck as a result of the two vehicles colliding. No injuries were reported by the driver and sole occupant of that vehicle.
Medics arrived and transported the adult female driver of the Pontiac G6 to a hospital with life-threatening-injuries. There were no other passengers in the Pontiac G6.
The driver, and sole occupant, of the Chevy Silverado remained on the scene and did not report any injuries.
The circumstances of the collision are still under investigation. No citations have been issued.
