Nuer Majiok Charged in Robbery Investigation
At 9:23 PM on May 6, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to Chevron at 832 E 6th Avenue regarding a robbery. Initial indications are that an adult male suspect confronted Chevron Employee #1 in Chevron’s parking lot. The suspect punched and kicked Employee #1 causing the employee to fall to the ground. The suspect then entered the store and hit Employee #2 causing that employee to fall down. Once down, the suspect kicked and hit the employee with a mop handle multiple times. The suspect then ordered Employee #2 to open the cash register which he did. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Employee #2 was transported to a hospital by medics for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Several officers responded to the scene. A K9 track was conducted but the search for the suspect was unsuccessful. One of the responding officers obtained photos of the suspect; those photos were emailed to other APD officers.
At 5:45 PM on May 14, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to the 800-block of E 10th Avenue regarding several people trespassing inside an apartment complex. While there the responding officers were advised the Chevron robbery suspect had been identified as 21-year-old Nuer G. Majiok. As officers approached the front door to the building, a male exited and attempted to rush past the officers. The male matched the robbery suspect in the photos that had been disseminated at APD a few days prior. The male was stopped, positively identified as Majiok, and detained.
Majiok was transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. Afterwards he was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Theft III, Assault III, Assault IV, and Robbery I.
