Homicide Investigation on Easthaven Circle

At 2:36 PM on May 12, 2024, the Anchorage Police Department and the Anchorage Fire Department responded to a residential fire on the 2600-block of Easthaven Circle.  In a press release written by AFD, it was announced that two bodies had been found inside.

As APD and AFD continued their joint investigation, a third deceased person was found at the site the following day.  APD Detectives have determined that 46-year-old Esteban L. Pope fatally shot a 32-year-old pregnant female (seven months gestation) and a two-year-old female inside the home before turning the gun on himself.  This is a domestic violence related crime; therefore, the victims’ names will not be released by APD.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

AFD determined the cause of the fire to be intentional.
