Homicide Investigation: 2300-block Eureka Street

Update—February 22, 2023

From the Attorney General’s Office:

Yesterday, an Anchorage grand jury indicted 29-year-old Miles Owen White for one count of murder in the first degree, two counts of murder in the second degree and one count of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree.  White has also been charged with one count of violating his conditions of release. The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 25, 2023, in the which the defendant is alleged to have shot and killed Elijah Anderson.

If convicted at trial, White faces a sentence of up to 99 years imprisonment for the murder charges.

At the time of the homicide, White was on conditions of release for the indicted offenses of burglary in the first degree and assault in the third degree.  In that case, the Court had removed a third-party custodian requirement over the State’s objection and placed White on electronic monitoring with the Anchorage Pre-Trial Enforcement Division. White is alleged to have removed his ankle monitor on Nov. 1, 2022, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on Nov. 7, 2022.  White has now been indicted for an additional count of escape in the third degree for the removal of his ankle monitor.

These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
