Homicide: E 17th Avenue and Early View Drive

The deceased victim has been identified as 38-year-old Avery Jackson; next-of-kin notification procedures are complete.

At 2:39 AM on Nov. 15, 2024, APD Mid Shift officers responded to the area of E 17th Avenue and Early View Drive for reports of shots fired being heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his upper body. AFD medics arrived and administered life-saving measures but ultimately declared the man deceased.

Police are currently following up on leads but believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

There are no road closures. Please avoid the area and follow officers’ instructions if you need to be in the vicinity. APD’s Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the scene.
