TRAFFIC COLLISION: EKLUTNA OVERPASS

 NARRATIVE: At 9:31 AM on December 27, 2024, officers responded to Eklutna overpass in reference to a vehicle collision with injuries.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a southbound vehicle on the Glenn Highway failed to change lanes despite a road closure due to a prior incident, resulting in a collision with an unoccupied police cruiser. While additional officers were on the scene managing traffic and the closure, a second vehicle failed to reduce speed, sideswiping a second police cruiser before striking the first cruiser. An officer exiting the second cruiser at the time of the collision sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
