LARGE POLICE PRESENCE:  500 BLOCK E 14TH AVE

 CURRENT STATUS: UPDATE

UPDATE 3:00 PM: At 9:55 AM on Dec. 27, 2024, officers responded to 500 E 14th Ave in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound to the upper body.  The victim has been transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

 The suspect, who was identified as 36-year old Chad Braunschweig, has been taken into custody and remanded to Anchorage Correctional Complex on charges of Assault II, Misconduct with a Weapon II, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Reckless Endangerment.

 The victim has been identified as David Norton II.

 Detectives have contacted everyone believed to be involved in this investigation and are not looking for anyone at this time. There is no current public safety threat related to this incident.

 NARRATIVE: there is a large police presence around the 500 block of E 14th Ave. Please follow officers’ instructions if you are in the area.  If you do not need to be in the vicinity, please avoid it and seek alternative routes until further notice. Depending on the situation, our response may require using a variety of tactics and tools, to include the drone.
