Brandon Perkins and Cynthia Ogle Arrested on Outstanding Warrants
At 5:42 PM on May 3, 2024, an off-duty APD officer advised Dispatch he had just seen 33-year-old Brandon S. Perkins pull into the Costco parking lot at 330 W Dimond Boulevard in a yellow minivan. Due to previous contacts, the officer knew Perkins had four outstanding warrants (one felony and three misdemeanors).
Several on-duty swing shift patrol officers responded. Perkins pulled up and stopped in front of the building’s main doors. At that time officers initiated a traffic stop by activating their patrol vehicles’ emergency lights. Perkins hit the gas and attempted to turn north at a high rate of speed; he struck a patrol vehicle and two civilian vehicles while doing so. The impact disabled the minivan at which time Perkins exited from the driver’s side and ran west through the parking lot. Officers gave chase on foot all the while yelling commands at Perkins which went unheeded.
Perkins kept putting one of his hands down near his waistband giving the pursuing officers concern that Perkins may be armed. Eventually Perkins stopped running and turned around so the officers could see his hands were clear. The officers placed Perkins into handcuffs without further incident.
Once he was medically cleared at a hospital, Brandon Perkins was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on his warrants. He was additionally charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Fail to Stop, Assault III, Resisting, and Criminal Mischief III.
The patrol vehicle struck by Perkins was disabled and had to be towed from the scene. The two civilian vehicles were a 2012 silver Subaru (occupied three times) and a 2012 silver GMC (occupied once). Both of those vehicles were being driven through the parking lot when they were struck by Perkins. Both vehicles suffered nondibilitating damage. No one was injured.
33-year-old Cynthia D. Ogle had arrived at Costco with Perkins. She was located inside the store by APD officers with the help of Loss Prevention. Cynthia Ogle was arrested and subsequently remanded at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center on her unrelated outstanding warrant.
